For the Love of a Fabulous Hammock

Few things in life send as clear a message as a hammock. We immediately know that a place with a hammock is one where life is meant to be lived. Taking a moment to slow down, unplug, recharge, and reflect is expected, not just allowed.

We love hammocks for their embodiment of kick-your-feet-up luxury, even if only for a short moment or in our own backyard oasis. We love them for instilling a hint of adventure, perhaps because they force us let go and trust, just a little, each time we sink back into their (sometimes unpredictable) swaying cradle.

We also love them for their straight-up playfulness. I’ll never forget setting up a photo shoot in a park and hearing squeals of delight as nearby kids came rushing over from the playground for a swing.

Hammocks make an aesthetic statement as much as they do a lifestyle one. Their graceful shape and textural beauty add bohemian glamour as well as engaging movement to our special places.

A fabulous hammock is truly a thing of beauty. Some of our favorite style icons harnessed their appeal in unforgettable moments caught on camera.

As you can guess, our favorites involve decadent fringe, stunning color, and afternoons filled with friends and loved ones. Whatever style you choose, get thee to a hammock. Snuggle up with a good book, a cold beverage, or a wee munchkin...

Banish any and all lingering guilt as you sink in with Carl Honore’s wise insight:

“Your best ideas, those eureka moments that turn the world upside down, seldom come when you’re juggling emails, rushing to meet the 5 P.M. deadline or straining to make your voice heard in a high-stress meeting. They come when you’re walking the dog, soaking in the bath or swinging in a hammock.”

So how about you?  How do you hammock? Let us know in the comment section!
