How to Fold a Hammock

We love how convenient a carrying case is when you own a hammock. Easy to store, easy to carry, easy to keep all your bits and pieces in one place. If you're like us, you were super impressed at how neatly arranged it was when you unpacked for the first time... Then promptly forgot how to fit everything back in when you need to. Never fear! Here’s a handy guide to folding your hammock just like new, every time.

Before folding, check your hammock for stray leaves or other debris, spot clean as necessary, and make sure it’s completely dry. Same goes for your bag.

Step 1: Lay the hammock on a flat surface folded in half right down the middle. Line up the metal eye rings and stretcher bars on either end. Fold the fringe on each side in toward the hammock’s midline (that’s the imaginary line running from one eye ring to the other). The folds should hit right at the end of the stretcher bars on either side. Straighten out the fringe.

Step 2: Fold the two eye rings and scale lines over the spreader bars toward the center of the hammock. Starting with the spreader bars, roll up your hammock. Keep the fabric smooth and taught (but not tight) across the length of the spreader bars as you go for the fewest wrinkles.

Step 3: Tie the hammock with 4-5 evenly spaced strings to keep it in place, slide it into the carrying case, and presto – all done!

For best results store your hammock in a cool, dry place with good air circulation. Please do not put it in a plastic bag! Natural fibers like cotton need fresh air to breath.
